Enchanted Garden 30 May 2026, 11am - 3pm
We are back!
We are working in partnership with Harlow Museum & Walled Gardens for this year's Enchanted Garden event. Come along to seek out all our fairy houses and meet the Fairy Queen along with her enchanted friends. Get hands-on with the craft activities, face painting and magical games. We look forward to seeing you there!
Alice in Wonderland Easter Adventure
Children and adults were welcomed and entertained by a medley of beloved characters from the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland. To name just a few there was Alice, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Queen of Hearts, the Duchess, Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
Children were set the challenge of finding a hidden word by enlisting help from the playful characters who gave them riddles, small tasks and clues. These then lead the children to a hidden word which was to be presented to the White Rabbit before receiving their well-earned chocolate egg.
In addition to the merriment created by the characters, there was copious amounts of tea and cake along with flamingos, croquet, playing cards and of course a few gifts to purchase!
We can safely say that our volunteers and characters (brought to life by the wonderful Plant Pots & Wellies Productions group) had as much fun as the children, making this an extra special Easter holiday!
Helping to keep our patch tidy!
In February, two groups of willing volunteers from Plant Pots and Wellies took part in Harlow Council's Spring Clean Up. With gloves, bags and litter pickers we helped to clean the streets around the allotment. With around 6 bags filled, that's a lot of litter no longer blighting our patch! Thank you to all who helped!
Santa’s Hollow 2025
Wow, what a busy time of year for Santa and everyone at Plant Pots and Wellies!
We had visits from ‘the Big Man himself’ who loved meeting all the children. Santa’s Elves were kept busy with The Moss Boys, the Naughty Pie Rats and Thistletoe the Mischievous Fairy. Much fun was had by everyone and it was lovely to see the children taking part in the craft activities, meeting Santa and going home with their gifts.
Willow Wreath Making Workshops
Much fun was had for the 2025 Willow Wreath Making Workshops. A time to relax with a hot chocolate or mulled wine and allow the creative juices to flow during an otherwise busy time of year.
Wreaths were made from scratch by weaving willow and then adorning with greenery, ribbons and embellishments. Lots of proud crafters ready to take their makes home!
😯Murder in Wellies! 😯
Our talented actors from Plant Pots and Wellies Productions delivered another brilliant murder mystery show in Sept 2025. This year’s production entitled Murder in Wellies was set at the Plant Pots and Wellies Hotel in wartime 1942. As you’d expect, it contained all manner of twists and turns keeping the audience second guessing before attempting to solve the ‘whodunit’. Did you guess the murderous villain correctly?
We are once again award winners at the 2025 Sawbridgeworth Allotments and Garden Show!
And 1st place goes to...

Pickles attends the Artvibe Art Exhibition June 2025
He’s a superstar! Pickles (a.k.a. Pawcasso), our therapy dog has been a busy boy throughout the year creating his wonderful artworks ready for sale at various events. Then the clever chap received an invite to do a demonstration at the Artvibe Art Exhibition in Bishops Stortford and of course he said ‘Woof!' - translation 'Yes!’. He had a great time meeting the visitors and showing off his artistic talents. An artist can never receive too much admiration! Below is the review from Artvibeworld and a link to a BBC Essex video where you can see the master at work.
Pickles – From My Personal View
Step into Pickles’ world of whimsy and imagination, where every painting tells a “tail” of adventure and canine creativity — leaving tails wagging and hearts melting. Pickles is a Golden Retriever therapy dog and our very own Pawcasso, proving that art truly has no limits… or species.
Using a wonderfully unique process, a silhouette is first cut and placed onto a blank canvas. An array of colours is then squirted over the surface, which is sealed inside a freezer bag — and that’s where Pickles comes in. With his tongue, he gently licks the top of the bag, moving the paint beneath and creating lively, expressive compositions. Once complete, the bag and silhouette are removed, revealing a joyful and surprisingly sophisticated piece of art.
Pickles’ work has captured hearts far and wide. He has been interviewed by the BBC, featured in publications including The Week Junior, has a piece displayed in the Houses of Parliament, has sold work, taken commissions, held his own exhibition, and even received endorsement from MP Chris Vince. And yet, despite all this acclaim, Pickles remains delightfully modest — happiest snuggled up in bed in the evening, watching television.
From my personal view, it was truly lovely to meet Pickles earlier this year, in 2025. Giving him plenty of strokes was a joy in itself, but what made the moment extra special was watching him give an amazing presentation alongside my son, Marcel. Pickles wagging his tail, Marcel smiling proudly, and people passing by stopping with big smiles on their faces — it was one of those moments that perfectly captured why art, connection, and community matter so much.
Pickles doesn’t just create art — he spreads happiness, curiosity, and warmth wherever he goes and having a four-pawed artist in our community feels pretty special.
